Counter Strike New Revealed

Valve finally revealed Counter Strike New after weeks of speculation. It's an update for CS:GO that will bring the game onto the Source 2 engine and make some major visual changes.

It also introduces the ability to use smoke grenades that respond and sub-tick updates for servers. It's got a lot of gamers who are a bit naive but it appears to be an incredible upgrade for the regular player.

Smokes

Counter Strike New has a huge update that will change the way smokes work in the game. The changes, which are dubbed responsive smokes, are a game changer. Smokes will expand to fill spaces and move around the map to move around objects. They will also react with the lighting in the games, making them appear more real. In addition to these new features, smokes will be capable of interfacing with game events that will provide new tactical opportunities. For instance, bullets can force smoke to briefly clear sightlines, and hex grenade explosions will disperse smoke occlusion.

Rather than the 64-tick update that occurs every millisecond, the CS: GO will now be able to use sub-ticks (or as Valve calls them, "micro-ticks") to communicate with the server. Each of these small increments of time will be recorded by the client and sent to the server, which will then send back the updated game state back to players. The servers will now know the exact moment you fired your shot or jumped, peeked, and other inputs.

While a minute-long video is not enough to fully explain everything the video explains that every piece of data sent by the client is accompanied by a time stamp, and that the server will collect all the information from all players in chronological order before sending it back. According to the video, a CS: GO will be able send twice as much data as a 64-tick CS: GO.

This means that even when the tick rate of the game is increased to 128 Hz, it will still be able to handle your commands instantly. The micro-tick updates also reduce the time it takes to input by making sure that the server responds to your actions without any delays or glitches.

This is clearly only the beginning of the technical enhancements Valve is making to the game. Valve is currently implementing dynamic smoke and particle systems to improve how smoke interacts with the environment, and it's upgrading all of the maps with high-resolution lighting, textures, and models. Source 2 tools and features will be used to make changes to all CS cosmetics and weapons.

Maps

The upcoming update for case Falchion Counter Strike New will bring new maps to the game as well as some old favorites that are being given facelifts. These updates are being tested in limited beta.
