The iRobot Roomba 980 Small robot vacuum Vacuum Cleaner

robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuums take pet hair, lint and dust from the floor before they can settle. They can also stay clear of obstacles like furniture that is tippy and staircases.

Roomba 960 from iRobot

The iRobot Roomba 980, the most recent of a series of top-of-the-line robot vacuums, Small Robot Vacuum is a must for any modern home. This model is extremely powerful suction as well as an HEPA filter that will assist anyone suffering from allergies. It also has a powerful battery which can be cleaned for up to two hours and returns to its dock automatically once the bin is full.

Smart mapping is another feature that helps it identify areas in your home that require attention and provides a cleaning path to get around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does a great job of moving around toys that have been abandoned on the floor or furniture legs that stick out of the ground. Roomba also has a sensor that snaps Roomba back to reality when it starts to move away from its initial location.

iRobot has also added a new set of rollers under the Roomba's bottom that don't have bristles and therefore tend to resist tangles more than earlier models. These are also a little taller than previous rollers and are able to fit under beds and couches with low sides and are designed to help this model navigate more easily across a variety of flooring kinds.

What sets the Roomba 980 apart from other high-end models, though, is its incorporation of the latest dirt detection feature that utilizes a camera to spot bits of embedded dirt. This is a great improvement over the previous model, which relied on the sensor-driven pseudorandom coverage technique to bounce around a room and clean it at minimum three times from various angles.

In our tests of its performance in our tests of its performance, the Roomba 980 did well on both hard flooring and carpets. Its score on the low pile carpet was excellent and it got a very good score on mid pile, too. It did a great job collecting pet hair, but struggled with long and thick pet hair that was stuck together.

Despite these slight limitations, the Roomba 980 remains one of our best-performing robots, and it's not even far from being as costly as the other top-of-the-line models in this list. It's still packed with a variety of features that we'd expect to see in a flagship model however it lacks all the fancy apps or smart home integration that are found in other top models.

The iRobot Roomba is easy to set up and start up and running immediately. After you have removed the pull tab for the battery and the yellow bin insert from the undercarriage, all you need to do is plug it into its Home Base docking station or a wall socket, small Robot Vacuum hit its big "Clean" button, and let it get to work. It will automatically return to its dock when the battery runs out or it's stuffed with debris. It also has indicators on the top to indicate when its bin is full or it requires recharging, or its Wi-Fi signal is not working.
