Our service offers private ADHD treatment instead of waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our fees for assessments include the cost of one prescription.
Titration
A highly experienced psychiatrist consultant will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your ADHD. This includes a complete medical history and an assessment using the standard ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.
After your evaluation, you will be informed if medication would be beneficial for your specific situation. The discussion will take place at your follow-up appointment (which can take place in person, via video link or by phone). Your clinician will discuss the various options for medications available. If you decide to start medication, we will offer you to titrate your dose to optimize the benefits/side-effects balance for you.
This process could take several weeks and involves gradually adjusting your child's medication until the right balance is achieved. It is not uncommon to have to adjust up to three different medications before you can find the one that best suits your child's ADHD. It's important for parents to be involved in this titration process, and keep an eye on their child's behaviour so that they can inform the doctor whether the medication is helping or causing adverse effects.
If you do not decide to return to NHS treatment the medication you take will be given as a private prescription which you'll need to pay for at the pharmacy (this is not included in the consultation fee). You must attend every six months to check your medication. This includes blood pressure and pulse readings. Annual reviews are also required.
Follow-up appointments
After the assessment is complete after the assessment is completed, you can make follow-up appointments with the psychiatrist. The appointment will usually be conducted by video conference using zoom. In some instances, it could be possible for an audio-only consultation to be conducted (again with an additional cost).
At this point, we will discuss any treatment options and decide on a custom-made ADHD medication titration strategy. The cost for these titration consultations is PS150 for face-to-face sessions and PS60 for online or telephone video consultations. Medication costs are additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.

This is because ADHD can be a genetic condition and it is essential to look into any family history that might suggest that you are at risk of developing the disorder.

If you've decided that you'd like to be treated for your ADHD We will schedule a follow-up appointment with one of our psychiatrists who specialise in this field. This can be done at the time of your diagnosis if you are eager to begin treatment immediately or within two weeks if you prefer to take time to consider the implications of your diagnosis and the possibilities available to you.
We suggest that if you are unsure about your preferences, talk to your GP prior to scheduling your private appointment. Certain providers have different guidelines regarding whether or not they require the submission of a GP letter. We also recommend to check if your GP accepts a "Shared-Care Agreement', which means that once you are discharged from the clinic, you will be referred back to them for the prescription for the medication.
Medication
For many people who want an individual diagnosis of ADHD medication is an important aspect of their journey. The process of getting an appointment with an NHS psychiatrist can be a challenge and time-consuming. NHS waiting lists are notoriously long, and GPs can be reluctant to refer patients on to specialist services.
One way to get around this is to ask your GP to refer you to Right to Choose (see psychiatry-uk and ADHD 360). This means that you can select an organization that offers an assessment and titration. This can help you save time and be more convenient, particularly if you have a busy schedule.
Once you've been referred, your clinician will examine you to determine if need medication

For those who do need further discussions about their titration and treatment plans, it's possible to be passed back to the same private clinic that made their initial assessment. If this occurs, the titration appointment will be included in their consultation fees and they will receive their medication on private prescription (see Consultation fees above). This could cost more than an NHS prescription since the pharmacy will charge for the medication.
