The Best Wireless Headphones

Wireless headphones let you listen to podcasts or music on the move without being connected to your audio device. The best headphones connect wirelessly to your laptop, phone, or record player using Bluetooth stereo headphones or another protocol.

They also have a powerful active noise cancellation system that cuts down the low rumble of bus engines or chatty coworkers. They're also incredibly comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

1. Sony WH-1000XM5

The WH1000XM5s headphones are Sony's flagship. They're a major improvement over the XM4s offering better noise cancelling and intelligent features. The headphones are more expensive but have an elegant look and feel. These headphones are great for those who commute or are frequent travelers.

The new headphones sport an elegant minimalist design constructed from recycled plastic. They're much lighter than previous models, as well. They're comfortable to wear for longer durations, and the headband is now covered with soft padding that makes it less stiff than it was before. The Earcups are also smaller and fit closer to the ear to ensure that there is less leakage of sound.

imageThe headphones come with an automatic adaptive ANC that is able to alter the volume depending on the surrounding. The ANC does not isolate the same amount of low frequency noise as Bose QuietComfort 45 Wireless or QC45 however, it can be effective in reducing mid and high frequency noises, such as plane engine roars and office chatter.

Wearing Detection is another feature that detects when you remove your headphones and then automatically pauses the music. It then resumes playing once you put on the headphones again. Speak-to-Chat lets you communicate with someone without removing your headphones. It's a good idea, but it's not perfect. Sometimes, the audio may switch back when you finish talking.

The DSEE HX Extreme Audio Processing Engine from Sony is also included. It upscales compressed music to give it greater clarity and detail. This isn't something that you'll come across every day, but it makes an enormous difference when listening to high-resolution music.

These headphones blutooth are compatible with Bluetooth 5.0 which provides more high-bitrate streaming than many other headsets. This should improve their performance when you play music on your laptop, mobile phone or tablet. They also support multi-point connectivity which means you can connect them with two devices at the same time. This is particularly useful if you want to listen to music while making hands-free phone calls.

2. Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Wireless headphones aren't exactly the most original, but that doesn’t mean they're not a good pair. These headphones have exceptional noise cancellation and 60 hours of battery life. This is easily twice as long as the majority of other competitors. The Sony WH1000XM5 or Bowers & Wilkins Px8 wireless offer 30 to 40 hours of battery life. The MOMENTUM 4's remarkable endurance is due in part to a variety of energy-saving features, bluetooth stereo headphones such as sleep and on-head recognition.

Sennheiser headphones are among the best Bluetooth headsets on the market. They feature a symbiotic blend of rich bass and warm mids that don't overpower each other. The high-end is clear without being blazing or bright, and the headphone's excellent clarity allows it to effortlessly handle action-movie soundtracks with plenty of blast. The Control app lets you change the sound profile and also add an EQ. This makes it easy to tailor the headphones to your specific preferences.

The MOMENTUM Wireless is slightly less durable than the wired version, yet is still sturdy and well-constructed. The comfortable earpads are also soft and supple and sit securely on the head. I wore them all day long regardless of whether I was at home or on a plane. They aren't as good for working out however, because they can fall off your ears when you move your head quickly.

The MOMENTUM 4 offers excellent ANC performance, but it's not quite as good as Sony WH-1000XM5. They eliminate low noise from plane and bus engines, but don't really do a an excellent job of filtering out passenger chit-chat or other ambient noise. They also have the benefit of supporting aptX Audio, which provides greater maximum bitrates than AAC and SBC used by the Sonys.

The earcups on the Sennheisers are able to rotate to lay flat, but don't fold like other models. Nonetheless, the headphones are compact enough to fit inside their carrying case that is hard when not in use, making them ideal for commute and travel.

3. Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2

The second generation of Bowers & Wilkins' flagship wireless headphones are one of the top noise cancelling over-ear headphones you can purchase. They compete with Sony's WH1000XM5 and Bose QuietComfort 65. They offer premium build quality, bluetooth stereo headphones impressive sound quality, and comfort. Unlike many high-end Bluetooth headsets, they do not include a myriad of fancy features or touch-based gesture control however, they are designed to deliver an audio experience that is as immersive and as enjoyable as it can be.

The Px7 S2's ANC is extremely effective in making ambient noise less noticeable, with a high degree of isolation from low-frequency rumbles, such as plane and bus engines, mid-range sounds such as office chatter, and high-pitched whirl of laptop fans. They aren't as effectively from higher-frequency sounds, such as conversations or traffic, but do a better job than their predecessors. Bowers & Wilkins' app lets you adjust your ANC to your hearing.

The headphones have a premium design, featuring a leatherette memory foam ear cup and headband. The headphones are a bit heavier than other top noise-canceling headphones however they're worth the cost due to their robust design and thoughtful design. They are comfortable to wear while you listen to music for prolonged durations and are ideal for use at home at work, in the office or even on long flights.

Bowers & Wilkins Px7S2's dynamic drivers that have 40mm of diameter deliver powerful bass, crisp treble, and clear imaging. They provide a rich and dynamic sound that has an impressive amount of air between the sound elements which makes them a great option for listening to music or podcasts. They have aptX Adaptive codec that means you can stream hi-res audio with a low latency.

The controls on the Px7 S2 are simple to operate. They include the volume up/down button as well as a play/pause switch, as well as the earcup buttons. The buttons are tactile and textured tiny details that enhances the headphones' premium feeling. The headphones are sturdy over-ears and won't fall from your head. They fold down into a small case to make transport simple.

4. V-Moda S-80

The V-Moda S-80 headphones are an exception to the rule that you get the value you pay for. They're among the prettiest wireless headphones around and boast a slick, durable design. However, they cost nearly as much as the Sony WH1000XM5 or Bowers & Wilkins px7 S2 quite a bit for a pair on-ear headphones.

The V-Moda S-80 is the first wireless-only headphone by the brand. They can be worn on your head, or tied around your neck to create a personal speaker (earcups facing upwards). They are tuned to enhance modern electronic music with a lively sound and support advanced audio codes such as Qualcomm's HD aptX. They have interchangeable magnet shields and customizable colors, so you can make your headphones distinctive in style that matches your outfit.

The S-80 is a nice departure from the M-Series, but they have a few quirks which make them less than ideal for everyone. The 12.5 ounces of weight makes them feel heavy, particularly when placed on the ears. This puts pressure on your ears, causing earache after about an hour of use.
