Mama an arse in the 1860s. It is also used in the expression "to go around'. "To create an ass of oneself" also makes use of the word "ass" which is connected to "to arse around". However there are numerous threads of meaning that come from arse that aren't present in the word "ass".
Appropriateness in popular Culture
We frequently see instances where an established culture adopts elements of a minority's culture. This practice, known as cultural appropriation can cause feelings of disrespect among members of minority groups. Whether it is wearing a Native American headdress at a music festival or wearing blackface for Halloween, many Black people feel that this is a form of patronizing behavior.
A dominant group can also adopt elements of minority cultures. However, they may also utilize intellectual property of the minority group. This can be done through blackfishing, for instance. It is important to consider that people with color have a history being marginalized and excluded. Consider, for example, the history of black people being marginalized when you see someone in a blackface Halloween costume.
