Fishing is a popular pastime here in Australia and one of the favourite spots is on the Gold Coast. It is hardly surprising really as there are so many great places where you can just cast your rod, relax with a few beers and catch some fish. However, if you really want to get the full experience, you should charter a boat for the morning, afternoon or even the day to try and catch some big fish, some that you can really tell your mates about back home.

As you head out into deeper waters, it is common to catch Marlin, Tuna and even Cod, all that serve up nicely on the dinner plate. There is nothing better than getting home and serving up a fine fish that you have caught yourself just a few hours before. The waters off the Gold Coast are filled with these types of fish and luckily they are still there in abundance. A responsible captain on any fishing charter will always make sure that only fish that are mature enough can be kept and when you do go on these trips, you should follow the same rules.

There are lots of different types of charter available these days. Some companies will offer deals if you don't mind others joining you, whilst other specialise more in private charters. This is where you will have a captain as well as someone advising you how to catch the fish - something that is very useful if you are a novice to sea fishing. Private charters are great for Bucks parties and offer something a little bit different to just sitting in the pub all day. After all, there is nothing to stop you doing that in the evening after a fantastic day out on the open seas!

The Gold Coast is a fantastic place, Fishing it is picturesque and the waters are clear and warm. You won't find many places like it in the world where you can just kick back and relax. It is superb for families, groups of mates as well as a fantastic place for Secrets some father and son bonding time. What better place to do that than on the open seas, in a boat where you can chat away in private. No one there to disturb you, just the gentle rocking of the boat and the breaking of the waves. Sounds idyllic doesn't it?

There are lots of companies offering boat charters and like most things, some are better than others. It always pays to shop around and do your research. Some charters aim more at novice fisherman, others at experts whilst many cater for all abilities. Make sure that you talk to the company about what you are looking to achieve from your day. If you want to catch tuna, for instance, Secrets an experienced captain will be able to take you to waters where there is a better chance of finding them.
