How to Replace the Ignition Key on a Saab 9-3

Insert an open-ended head into the slot in the middle of your case. The plastic is brittle, and easily damaged.
After the case is opened, you can make the new key by combining the lower part of old key with a transponder and banana. This will ensure that the new key is connected to the CIM properly, which could make a big difference when replacing the original key for your Saab 9-3.

How to replace the ignition Key on a Saab XC90
It may be time to replace your SAAB key fob if it's having trouble turning the lock barrel. Fortunately, the process is quite simple and doesn't require you to visit a dealer. Instead, you can do it yourself at home, using just the help of a few tools.
You'll first need to prepare the keys for your new car. Before you begin, disable the anti-theft system by placing blocks underneath the rear wheels and activating your handbrake. Insert the key into the ignition and turn the key to the "on" position. This will activate the accessories but it will not start the engine. Repeat this procedure 5 times, and then keep the key on the "on" position.
The next step is to get a replacement case for the old key fob. You can find them at any auto parts shop, and they're usually quite affordable. Depending on the model, you could even get them without any electronics.
To open the case you need to gently push the screwdriver with a flathead into the slot in the middle. After you've separated the case, you'll have access to all of the internal electronics. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pull out the electronics.
