To use an OBD hacking device you must have an operating system that is capable of interpreting the OBD protocol. This can be bought for less than PS100 on ebay or Amazon. You will also need cables with OBD pins that are connected to the CAN bus. These are available on eBay and Amazon for around PS50. You then need to splice the cable into the wire harness of your car, for example, in the radio wiring harness.
Once the hacker has established a connection to your vehicles OBD port, they are able to send diagnostics requests to the system at a high baud rate which can cause CAN to crash, and prevent systems within your vehicle from functioning. This can cause the engine to stop and doors to lock, or even the brakes to be engaged.
