A horrific multi-vehicle crash has killed one person and injured four others in what commuters said sounded like a bomb.
The serious collision involved two trucks and two cars at the intersection of Gympie Arterial Road and Linkfield Road in Brisbane's northern suburb of Bald Hills.
Initial investigations found a semi-trailer and a flatbed truck collided before hitting two cars waiting to turn onto Linkfield Road about 7.14am on Tuesday.
Paramedics, including critical care and high acuity response unit, attended the scene and assessed five patients.

The driver of the semi-trailer, a 62-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Four other people were rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in stable conditions.They included a man in his 20s with minor injuries, a woman in her 40s with minor injuries, a man with chest pain, and another man with a minor head injury.

Motorists on the road at the time of the incident were shocked and described the terrifying noise that came from the impact of the collision.
'It literally happened 10 seconds after I exited onto the Linkfield off ramp. I thought it was a bomb,' one wrote online.
