Sennheiser's MOMENTUM headphones are one of its most popular active noise cancellation (ANC) headphone models. The MOMENTUM 4 Wireless headphones are a great option for ANC headphones. They have a solid track record and come at a reasonable price.
The ear cups are padded and designed to comfortably fit around your ears. The top of the band, which goes around your neck, is encased with soft leatherette. I found it comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and the band is flexible enough to allow for glasses which is a nice feature.
In contrast to some rival ANC headphones like unlike some ANC headphones, MOMENTUM 4 Wireless sound is more balanced than overemphasizing bass or highs. This is a positive thing because it gives you a more balanced representation of music and speech. They do veer slightly into the realm of higher frequencies that are boosted but it's a typical feature of headphones targeted at commuters, where outside noise can compete with low-level music and speech.
The MOMENTUM Wireless noise reduction is superb similar to other top performers in the ANC category. It's not quite as good as the top ANC headphones we tested however, it is close. You can also defer projects by two clicks until the next quarter making them a great option for work or school.
You can connect the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless to any device using Bluetooth, and you can choose to use SBC AAC, aptX, or aptX HD codecs. The 3.5mm connector on the headphone can be used to listen to music sources without Bluetooth support.
The MOMENTUM Wireless comes with a microphone array that allows users to make and receive calls. The microphone does a decent job but it's not going to provide the highest quality audio for phone conversations. The microphone is still superior to the ones found on many entry-level headphones.
