Private ADHD Titration

There is a national shortage of medication to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due both to manufacturing problems as well as an increased global demand.

Our service is able to provide private ADHD titration as an alternative to waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees include the cost of a single prescription.

Titration

imageA highly experienced psychiatrist consultant will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your adhd titration private. This includes a thorough medical history, and an evaluation using the standard ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

After your examination, you will be advised if medication is considered to be beneficial for your situation. This will take place at your follow-up appointment (which could be in person, via video link or via phone). Your doctor will go over the various options for medications available. If you decide to start taking medication, we will help you the option of titrating your dose to ensure the best balance of benefits and side effects for you.

This process could take a few weeks and requires adjusting your child's dosage gradually until the appropriate balance is reached. It's not uncommon to have to titrate three or four medications before determining the most effective one for your child's ADHD symptoms. It's important for parents to be involved in this titration process and keep an eye on their child's behaviour to let the doctor know whether the medication is helping or causing side effects.

If you decide to go back to NHS treatment you will be issued an individual prescription for your medication. You will have to pay at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You must attend six-monthly appointments to monitor your medications. This includes pulse and blood pressure measurements. Annual exams are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the assessment has been completed, you will be able to make follow up appointments with the psychiatrist, as necessary. Typically, the appointment will take place through a video call using zoom, Private ADHD Titration although in certain cases it may be possible to do an audio-only consultation (again at an additional cost).

In this session, we'll discuss any treatment options and come up with a unique ADHD medication titration program. This will include a review and discussion of your medication dosage, Private adhd titration as well as any side effects that you may be experiencing. The titration sessions cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions, and PS60 via telephone or video consultation. The cost of medication is additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.

The psychiatrist will ask you questions about your family history and the effects of your ADHD symptoms on your daily life and any mental health issues that you may be experiencing. ADHD can be a hereditary condition, which is why it's crucial to assess your family history to determine if you are at a higher chance of developing this disorder.

It is crucial that you are honest and transparent to the doctor during this assessment, as the information they get will be used to determine if your ADHD is in line with the diagnostic criteria. This is a vital part of the process, since a failure to do so could lead to an inaccurate diagnosis and therefore inappropriate prescribing of medication.

If you've decided that you would like to be treated for your ADHD We will schedule a follow-up appointment with one of our psychiatrists who specialise in this field. This can be scheduled in the wake of your diagnosis if you are eager to begin treatment immediately, or within two weeks if want to consider the implications of your diagnosis and the alternatives available to you.

If you are unsure of what you would prefer We suggest you talk to your GP prior to booking your private appointment as certain providers have different rules regarding whether they require an GP referral letter or not. Make sure that your GP accepts a Shared Care Agreement, which means you will be referred to them once you leave the clinic for prescriptions for medication.

Medication

Medication is a key aspect of the treatment process for many who are looking for a private ADHD diagnosis. Getting prescriptions from an NHS psychiatrist can be a hassle and time-consuming. NHS waiting lists are notoriously long, and GPs may be reluctant to refer patients on to specialist services.

One way to get around this is to request your GP to refer you to Right to Choose (see psychiatry-uk and ADHD 360). This means that you can select an organization that offers a private assessment and titration. This will help you reduce time and be more convenient, especially in the event of a hectic work schedule.

Once you've been diagnosed, your doctor will evaluate your condition to determine if you require medication adjustment. You will need to fill out forms that vary by doctor, but the most common ones are self-reporting forms and medical histories dating to your childhood and into adulthood. These forms will allow your doctor to determine if there are factors that could mean you shouldn't take ADHD medications, in the event that they've been prescribed.

If you are being titrated the medication will be a combination stimulants and non-stimulant drugs. These will be carefully trialled and monitored to determine the most suitable combination for you, taking into consideration any existing conditions you have. The titration process can be a lengthy process and may require multiple appointments before your dose is stable.

Based on the type of medication you're taking, follow up appointments could be scheduled monthly or quarterly. Your clinician will check whether you are safe with the medication, document any side effects you've experienced, and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that you remain on a dose that is safe. You'll also be required to attend a regular health check, which could include blood pressure and pulse readings, as well as weight and weight measurements as well as an annual check-up.

Some people might be satisfied with their treatment and therefore do not require discussing their titration in more detail. However, for those who do need further discussions about their titration and treatment plan it is possible that they will be passed back to the same private clinic that performed their initial assessment. If this happens, the titration appointment will be part of their consultation fees and they will be given their medication on private prescription (see Consultation fees above). This could cost more than an NHS prescription as the pharmacy will charge for the medication.
