The iRobot Roomba 980 Robot Vacuum Cleaner

robot vacuum and mop vacuums take pet hair, lint, self Cleaning Robot vacuum and dust from the floor before they settle. They can also avoid obstacles like stairs and other obstructions such as furniture that is tippy.

The majority of robotic vacuums require regular maintenance. This includes emptying the bin (and sometimes, rinsing it) and self cleaning robot vacuum wiping the sensors and cameras. They also need to be plugged in. Many come with smartphone applications to schedule, adjust settings and more.

iRobot Roomba 980

The iRobot Roomba 980 is the most recent in the series of top-of-the-line robot vacuum cleaners that are a staple in any modern home. This model comes with a HEPA-filter to aid those suffering from allergies. In addition it also has a powerful battery which can clean for up to two hours and it will return to its dock when its bin is full.

imageIt also comes with the feature of smart mapping, which makes use of multiple sensors to help suss out the areas of your home that need attention and create a self cleaning robot Vacuum path around them. This technology is extremely effective in navigating around toys that are left on the floor or furniture legs that are sticking out from underneath things. Roomba also comes with a sensor that can snap Roomba to reality if it starts to wander away from its original location.

iRobot has also added the option of rolling rollers under the Roomba which do not have bristles and therefore are more likely to withstand the tangles that previous models. These are also a little taller than older rollers and can better fit under beds and couches with low sides and are designed to help this model navigate more easily across different floor kinds.

What sets the Roomba 980 apart from other models of this class however, is its integration of the new dirt detection feature that uses cameras to detect particles of dirt embedded. This is an improvement over the previous model which relied on a sensor-driven pseudorandom cover method to bounce around the room and scrub the entire area three times at various angles.

In our tests of its performance it was found that the Roomba 980 did well on both hard flooring and carpets. It scored highly on low-pile carpet and also on mid-pile. It did a fair job of removing pet hair, but it struggled with extremely thick and long pet fur that was clumped together.

imageThe Roomba 980 is still one of the most efficient robots we've reviewed despite the minor drawbacks. It's also not as expensive as other top-of the-line models. It still has a lot of features that we'd like to see in a top-of-the-line model, but it doesn't have all the fancy app-enabled functions or smart home integration you might find in other top contenders.

The iRobot Roomba can be set up in a matter of minutes and is ready for use immediately. After taking off the yellow bin insert and battery pull tab from the undercarriage, you just plug it into a wall socket or its Home Base docking stations, press the "Clean button" and let it work. It will automatically return to its dock when the battery runs out or it's full of debris, and it has indicators at the top of the device to indicate that the bin is full, it needs to be recharged or its Wi-Fi signal is not working.
