What is EEPROM?
The EEPROM chip is a nonvolatile memory that can be erased or modified. When the EEPROM is in the "0" state there is no value. If the EEPROM is in the "1" state, it has a value of 1. Between these two states, no data is stored, however it can still be written. The EEPROM can be erased by applying a specific voltage to the gate for a brief period of time.
The EEPROM has the advantage that it can be erased and written to without the need for external circuitry. This makes it a great choice in systems where memory is required to be updated regularly for example, remote keyless microcontrollers in systems. There are other types of memory chips that offer similar functions, but are better suited to long-term storage.
Modern flash memory chips, for example are extremely popular and can be found in computers and digital cameras. They are used to store multimedia files for long-term storage and retrieval. Nevertheless, they are not considered to be true EEPROMs as their core functions differ from those of true EEPROMs. They are still used, however, because of their versatility and

What is OBDII?
Prior to recently the majority of car manufacturers had their own methods to diagnose problems with their vehicles. In 1996, the government mandated that all vehicles use a standard system for

There are a variety of protocols that are used, but the most popular ones are SAE J1850 PWM which is utilized in Ford and a few GM vehicles ISO 14230-4 (KWP2000) that is used in a number of European or Asian vehicles and CAN, which is used in the majority of American-made vehicles. Some scan tools will even explain what the code actually means, while others will only give you the code and require some internet research to find out what it means.
What is CAS unit?
The CAS module is an BMW unit which controls the antitheft feature of the car. The system works by taking an encoded signal from the fob of the key and then verifying it using the CAS module. If the signal is valid the CAS module sends an enable signal to the engine control unit. If it's not the signal is valid, the engine will not start.
A BMW CAS module malfunction can lead to a variety of signs, including key fobs not working and alarm activation issues, central locking issues and warning lights appearing on the dashboard. If you notice any of these symptoms, make sure you have the CAS Module checked as soon as you can by a professional.
The CAS system utilizes the BMW ICOM VCDS to communicate with the engine and other vehicle systems. The VCDS is connected to the CAS by special cables with an DIN connector on the end. The VCDS can perform a number of functions, including display of error codes, or even changing the timing of the ignition. It also provides a range of security features to protect the vehicle from theft.
BMW automobiles are equipped with the CAS key module addition to the ICOM VCDS. The module is powered by the ignition coil and is not designed to run on batteries. A transponder chip is integrated in the key to send the encoded signal to the CAS module. This signal is transmitted using coil antenna (loop) at the ignition lock.
The CAS state logic is implemented by the CasSystem class. This class should be installed on every device that requires data. Multiple instances of this class can result in unintended behavior. In addition to providing information about state, the CasSystem class also controls the display of alert messages. It does this by releasing a cas_activate_alert subject that requires event information as an object that has key and priority properties. This topic contains the ID and, optionally, the suffix of the alert you'd like to activate, along with the priority level. Once you've activated an alert it will be displayed on the CasSystem will broadcast an alert on the cas_alert_displayed and ca_alert_hidden event bus topics (defined by the CasEvents interface). It will also subscribe to the cas_master_warning_active and cas_master_caution_active topics to consume their statuses.
How to program a BMW Key
BMW offers keyless entry for drivers in the Murrieta region. This feature is convenient and allows you to lock and unlock your car without using the physical key. This keyless entry system is only activated when the key fob has been programmed to the car. You'll only need to follow two easy steps.
The process varies slightly depending on whether you want to pair a new key fob with your existing

The first step is to take the working key fob as well as the ones you wish to program inside of your vehicle, making sure that all windows and doors are closed.
