The headband has been cushioned with soft material to ensure it's more comfortable. The earcups have also been made smaller so that they can be worn closer to the ear for less leakage of sound.
They have an auto-adaptive ANC system that's capable of adjusting the volume it pumps out depending on the environment. The ANC does not block as much low-frequency noise as Bose's QuietComfort 45 or QC45 Wireless however, it does a good job of combating high-frequency and mid-frequency sounds, such as office chatter and airplane engine roar.
Other smart features include Wearing Detection that detects when you take off your headphones and then automatically stops your music - and it starts playing again as soon as you put them back on. There's also Speak-to-Chat, which lets you talk to people without taking the headphones off. It's quite effective, although it's not a perfect solution and may switch back to audio playback once you're done talking.
Sony's DSEE-HX Extreme audio processing engine is also present. It upscales compressed music to give it more clarity and clarity. This isn't something you'll see every day, but it does make a an enormous difference when listening to high-resolution music.
These headphones are compatible with Bluetooth 5.0 which provides more high-bitrate streaming than many other headsets. This will improve their performance when you stream music from your mobile phone, laptop, or tablet. They also support multi-point connectivity so you can pair them with two devices at the simultaneously. The Sony WH1000XM5 or the Bowers and Wilkins PX8 wireless can provide 30 to 40 hours of battery life. The MOMENTUM 4's incredible endurance is due to a range of power-saving features, including sleep and on-head recognition.
In terms of audio quality in terms of sound quality, the Sennheisers are among the top Bluetooth headphones available, with a balanced blend of a strong bass and warm mids that don't overwhelm each other. The high end is clear, but not piercing. Its clarity makes it able to take on the most explosive action film soundtracks. The Control app allows you to modify the sound profile and also add an EQ. This allows you to customize the headphones to suit your preferences.
The MOMENTUM Wireless is slightly less robust than the wired version but is still sturdy and well-constructed. The ear pads of the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless are soft and supple and rest comfortably on the head. In fact, I had no problem wearing them for an entire day working from home or on a flight. They're not as ideal for working out however, as they may fall off your ears if you move your head swiftly.
The MOMENTUM 4 delivers excellent ANC performance, but it's not as effective as the Sony WH-1000XM5. They cut out low rumble from plane and bus engines, but don't do a great job of eliminating chattering between passengers or other noises in the surrounding. They do have the added benefit of aptX audio which offers higher maximum bitrates than the AAC and SBC used by the Sonys.
The Sennheisers earcups can be swiveled to lay flat, but they do not fold, like some other models. Nonetheless, the headphones are compact enough to fit in their carrying case that is hard when they're not in use, which makes them ideal for commutes and travel.
3. Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2
The new generation of Bowers & Wilkins' flagship wireless headphones is one of the top noise cancelling over-ear headphones you can purchase. They compete with Sony's WH1000XM5 and Bose QuietComfort 65. They provide premium build quality, impressive audio performance, and comfort. They don't feature fancy features or touch-based control gestures like many premium
bluetooth headphones wireless headphones headphones. Instead, they are designed to deliver the best sound experience, which is awe-inspiring and enjoyable.
The Px7 S2's ANC is very effective in reducing ambient noise, and has a good level of isolation against low-frequency rumbles, such as plane and bus engines, mid-range noises like office chatter, as well as the high-pitched whirl of laptop fans. The ANC on the Px7 S2 is less effectively from higher frequency sounds, like traffic and conversations, but does a better job at removing them. Bowers & Wilkins' app allows you to alter your ANC to your hearing.
The headphones sport a classy design, featuring a leatherette memory foam headband and ear cup. The headphones are a bit heavier than other top noise cancelling over-ear headsets, but they feel worth the money due to their robust design and thoughtful build. They're comfortable when you listen to music for extended periods and are suitable for use at home at work, on the go or for long flights.
When it comes to sound quality, the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2's 40mm dynamic drivers deliver strong bass, crisp highs and a spacious, detailed image. They produce a dynamic and rich sound, with a noticeable air between the sound elements. This makes them a great option for music and podcasts. They are compatible with the aptX Adaptive Codec which allows you to stream hi-res audio at minimal latency.
The controls on the Px7 S2 are easy to operate. They include an up/down volume button, a play/pause switch and earcup buttons. The buttons are tactile and the texture enhances the premium feel of these headphones. The headphones are stable on the ear and won't fall from your head. They fold down into a compact carrying case to make transporting easy.
4. V-Moda S-80
Generally, you get what you spend in the world of headphones but the V-Moda S-80 are an exception. They're among the prettiest wireless headphones and feature a sleek sturdy design. Unfortunately, they cost nearly as much as the Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 -- a lot of money for a pair of on-ear headphones.
